Story: Grant and Christine’s Journey to Model Christ-like Behavior
Grant and Christine have been married for several years and are raising two children, Lucas and Emma. From the very beginning, they wanted to raise their children to love Jesus and follow His example. But they quickly realized that words alone wouldn’t teach their kids about faith, kindness, or humility—what they needed was to live out Christ’s love in their daily actions.
One afternoon, after a busy week filled with work pressures and household chaos, Grant noticed his son Lucas arguing loudly with his sister Emma over a toy. Normally, he might have responded with frustration or raised his voice, but that day, he remembered the parable of the Two Sons (Matthew 21:28-32), where actions speak louder than words. He took a deep breath and approached his children with calm and patience.
Looking at both of them, Grant knelt down and said gently, “You know, Jesus teaches us that_action speaks louder than words. We can say we love Him, but if we don’t show love in what we do, it doesn’t mean much. Let’s try to show kindness and patience, just like Jesus would.”
That evening, Christine made a point to sit down with Lucas and Emma, reading a Bible story about Jesus’s love and forgiveness. She modeled humility and patience in her interactions with her children, explaining that to truly follow Jesus, they had to live out His love daily. Grant started helping more around the house and talking to his children about how Jesus treats us—with mercy, honesty, and love—and how they could imitate His example.
Slowly but surely, their children started to notice their parents’ actions—they saw acts of kindness, forgiveness, and patience. When Emma accidentally broke something valuable, Grant chose to forgive her and teach her about grace. When Lucas was feeling upset about an upcoming test, Christine encouraged him with gentle words and prayer. The family began to grow in faith, not just through words but through what they saw in their parents’ daily lives.
Over time, Grant and Christine realized that the most powerful way to teach their children about Jesus was by living as His ambassadors—they modeled humility, love, forgiveness, and service. Their home was becoming a place where faith was genuine, and the children learned that true Christ-like behavior is a daily choice—living out love and humility in everything.
They understood that children learn best when they see their parents walking in faith through actions. And as they consistently reflected Christ’s love, their family’s bond grew stronger, and their children’s hearts increasingly responded to Jesus’s call to love, to forgive, and to serve.

Help us to put aside selfishness and pride; instead, let us serve, love, and lead with humility and compassion. Give us wisdom to teach our children by example—showing them how to live with integrity, faith, and love.
May our family be filled with peace, joy, and love—evidence that we walk in the Spirit and follow Your Son, Jesus Christ. Use us as vessels to shape future generations into faithful, loving followers of You.
We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
