Week 7: The Spirit’s Power

Acts 1:8 says,
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
The Holy Spirit’s power enables us to overcome fear, share the gospel boldly, and fulfill God’s mission.
Story of the Disciples Learning Week 7
On the day of Pentecost, the disciples were gathered in the upper room when suddenly, "there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance" (Acts 2:2-4).
Peter, filled with boldness, stepped out and preached to the crowd, declaring, "This Jesus, whom you crucified, God has made both Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:36). His words pierced their hearts, and 3,000 people were saved that day.
Afterward, the disciples marveled at the Spirit’s power. James, the son of Zebedee, said, "We couldn’t have done this on our own. It was the Spirit working through us."
John added, "The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is living in us. That’s why we can be bold."
Andrew, ever practical, said, "We need to rely on the Spirit’s power every day, not just on special occasions."
Philip, who had been hesitant to speak publicly, shared, "The Spirit gave me the words to say. I didn’t have to rely on my own strength."
Bartholomew, known for his honesty, admitted, "I’ve struggled with fear, but the Spirit’s power gives me courage."
Thomas, who had doubted but now believed, said, "I’ve seen the Spirit’s power at work in miracles and healings. He’s real, and He’s powerful."
Matthew, the former tax collector, added, "The Spirit’s power isn’t just for us; it’s for the world. It’s how we share the gospel and make disciples."
Simon the Zealot, who had once been a political revolutionary, said, "The Spirit’s power brings transformation—in us and in those we minister to."
As the disciples reflected on Pentecost, they realized that the Spirit’s power was essential for their mission. They committed to relying on Him daily to be bold witnesses for Christ.
