Week 6: The Spirit’s Guidance

John 16:13 says,
"When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come."
The Holy Spirit is our divine Guide, leading us in God’s will and helping us navigate life’s challenges.
Story of the Disciples Learning Week 6
As the early Church expanded, the disciples faced decisions about how to spread the gospel. Philip, who had been serving in Samaria, received a specific instruction from the Spirit. One day, an angel of the Lord said to him, "Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza" (Acts 8:26).
Philip obeyed immediately, even though he didn’t know why. On the road, he encountered an Ethiopian eunuch reading Isaiah. The Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and join this chariot" (Acts 8:29).
Philip approached the man and explained the Scriptures, leading him to Christ. After baptizing him, the Spirit carried Philip away to another town to continue his ministry.
When Philip shared this story with the other disciples, Peter marveled, "The Spirit’s guidance is so precise. He leads us step by step."
John added, "We don’t always know the full plan, but we can trust the Spirit to guide us."
James, the son of Zebedee, said, "We need to be sensitive to His voice and ready to obey."
Andrew, ever practical, asked, "But how do we know it’s the Spirit speaking and not our own thoughts?"
Philip replied, "It’s through prayer and Scripture. The Spirit’s guidance always aligns with God’s Word."
Bartholomew, known for his honesty, admitted, "I’ve struggled to hear the Spirit’s voice. I need to spend more time in prayer."
Thomas, who had doubted but now believed, said, "I’ve seen the Spirit’s guidance in my life. He’s led me to places I never expected."
Matthew, the former tax collector, added, "The Spirit’s guidance is about trust. We don’t need to see the whole picture; we just need to follow Him."
Simon the Zealot, who had once been a political revolutionary, said, "The Spirit’s guidance brings clarity and purpose. He shows us where to go and what to do."
As the disciples reflected on Philip’s story, they realized the importance of being sensitive to the Spirit’s voice and ready to obey His leading.
