Week 8: The Spirit’s Comfort
Key Lesson: The Holy Spirit comforts us in times of trouble.
John 14:16-18 says,
"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."
The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, bringing peace and assurance in difficult times.
Story of the Disciples Learning Week 8
After Jesus’ ascension, the disciples faced persecution and hardship. James, the son of Zebedee, was the first to be martyred for his faith (Acts 12:1-2). The other disciples were devastated but found comfort in the Holy Spirit.
Peter, who had been imprisoned and miraculously released by an angel, gathered the disciples and said, "We must not lose heart. The Spirit is with us, comforting and strengthening us."
John, the beloved disciple, added, "Jesus promised He would not leave us as orphans. The Spirit is our Comforter, reminding us of His presence."
Andrew, ever practical, said, "In times of trouble, we need to turn to the Spirit in prayer. He brings peace that surpasses understanding."
Philip, who had faced opposition in his ministry, shared, "The Spirit’s comfort gives me the strength to keep going, even when it’s hard."
Bartholomew, known for his honesty, admitted, "I’ve struggled with fear and doubt, but the Spirit’s presence reassures me."
Thomas, who had doubted but now believed, said, "I’ve felt the Spirit’s comfort in my darkest moments. He’s real, and He’s with us."
Matthew, the former tax collector, added, "The Spirit’s comfort isn’t just for us; it’s for all who are hurting. We can share His peace with others."
Simon the Zealot, who had once been a political revolutionary, said, "The Spirit’s comfort brings hope and healing, even in the midst of suffering."
As the disciples prayed together, they felt the Spirit’s presence and peace. They realized that His comfort was not just for their own benefit but also for the Church and the world.
